Amazon Senior Discounts in 2024
Amazon Senior Discount: What You Can Expect
- As of 2024, Amazon doesn’t have a specific discount for seniors. However, the company does offer a discount on Prime membership that many seniors will qualify for.
- To qualify for the discounted Prime membership, Prime Access, a person has to be on one of several government assistance programs, such as Medicaid, SNAP, or SSI.
- The Prime Access rate is $6.99 per month, as opposed to the normal Prime membership rate of $14.99 per month.

Prime Access Membership
Amazon’s Prime Access membership costs $6.99 per month, a discount of over 50 percent off a normal Prime membership. Although the cost of Prime Access is lower, its benefits are the same. They include:
- Free same-day or two-day shipping on thousands of items
- Prime Video
- Prime Music
- Prime Reading
- Prime Games
- Unlimited cloud photo storage on Amazon Photos
In our experience, expedited Prime shipping is the program’s most useful benefit. In many cases, you can order household goods and have them delivered to your door on the same day.
Prime Access Eligibility
To be eligible for a Prime Access discounted membership, you must be receiving qualifying government assistance and provide documentation or identification to prove it to Amazon.
Qualifying programs include:
- Direct Express Prepaid Debit Card: Requires image of card
- Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
- Medicaid: Requires an image of your Medicaid eligibility letter
- National School Lunch Program (NSLP): Requires a letter with your child’s name and the name of their school
- Puerto Rico’s Nutrition Assistance Program (NAP)

Amazon Military Discount
In years past, Amazon has given veterans and active-duty members of the military a 50 percent discount on Prime memberships — usually on Veterans Day. The company, however, has since discontinued the discount.
