AARP members can get additional points by using their membership at Exxon Mobil gas stations. It’s not a direct discount, per se, but when you realize that every 100 points equals a dollar, you can apply it to your gas purchases — saving you money.

Exxon Mobil AARP Discount

Unfortunately, an AARP membership will not get you a certain percentage off on gas from Exxon Mobil — not exactly. Rather, it will allow you to save over time through the Exxon Mobil Rewards+ program in the following ways:

• Points on convenience store items, car washes, and fuel
• Twice the amount of points on fuel on member days

If you’ve just joined the rewards program as an AARP member, you will get 500 points automatically after your first time buying fuel.

At the pump, you’ll earn three cents per gallon of Synergy Supreme+ premium gas. In the store, you’ll earn a cent in points per dollar. Over the course of the month, if you use 100 gallons or more of gasoline or diesel fuel, you’ll get bonus points: one cent in points per gallon at the pump and two cents in points per dollar in the store.

Is an AARP Membership Worth It?

The AARP membership is more than worth it for the Exxon Mobil gas discounts alone. Again, the average American spends $5,000 on gas per year, so it’s helpful to take advantage of any rewards program available. Given that the AARP membership is so cheap, costing only $12 the first year, this program should pay for itself quickly.

Of course, fuel is only one of many AARP discounts. There are also discounts on travel, hotels, and rental cars. By combining multiple discounts, you can save thousands of dollars throughout the entire year.
