Looking for love? Be sure to check out our guide to this year’s best dating sites for seniors.
The Best Catholic Dating Sites for Seniors in 2024
- SilverSingles : Best for Seniors Seeking Seniors
- CatholicMatch : Detailed Religion Filters
- Christian Cafe : Best Free Trial
- Christian Mingle : Best for Marriage
- Christian Dating for Free : Best Free Membership
How We Chose Our Favorites
- Size of membership: Since more users mean more potential matches, we chose sites with a sizable membership, particularly those with a largely Catholic or Christian user base.
- Matching features: We gave preference to sites with sophisticated algorithms that create matches based on in-depth personality and interest assessments.
- Cost: We prioritized services that offer an optimal balance of affordability and the likelihood of finding a compatible partner.
- Online reviews: We also took a look at online reviews from sites like Consumer Affairs and Trustpilot to see what other people had to say about these dating sites.
The Best Catholic Dating Sites for Seniors
1. SilverSingles - Best for Seniors Seeking Seniors
What We Like Most:
- Senior-specific
- 80 percent of its members are age 50 or older
- Available in more than 20 countries
- Personality test
Overview
Aimed specifically at seniors, SilverSingles offers the best dating option for seniors on the internet. Eight out of 10 members are age 50 or over, and everyone on the site is excited about dating a senior, even the under-50 crowd.
Standout Features
Believe it or not, not everyone wants to date a senior. You can understand; they simply can’t handle your wisdom after thriving on the Earth for so long!
But that’s not the case at SilverSingles, which caters to seniors specifically. Eighty percent of its users are age 50 or older, and with over 381,000 new members every month, you’ll never run out of older adults to chat with. While SilverSingles isn’t specific to any religion, we filtered by religion so we could meet only people who shared our faith.
Another cool feature of SilverSingles is the fact that it’s available in over 20 countries, including Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom. If you’re willing to travel for love, you can meet Catholic singles without being constrained by country. We had fun chatting with people from across the globe, and even arranged to meet someone in Wales!
Pricing
SilverSingles is second only to Christian Mingle as having the highest prices on this list. You’ll spend at least $20 per month on SilverSingles, and that’s only if you sign up for a year.
Length of subscription in months | Cost per month | Total amount billed |
---|---|---|
3 | $39.95 | $119.85 |
6 | $22.95 | $137.70 |
12 | $19.95 | $239.40 |
While there’s a free version, it blurs all of users’ photos and doesn’t let you message them, so most people will want to pay for a membership to use the site at all.
What Others Are Saying
SilverSingles has mixed customer reviews, to put it lightly: a 1.3 rating from 82 reviews on Consumer Affairs and a 2.5-star rating from 483 reviews on Trustpilot. While people loved the fact that the site was mostly seniors, not everyone was happy with the free membership, which wouldn’t let them actually talk to people.
Drawbacks
While SilverSingles is aimed at the 50-and-over crowd, it’s the only dating site on this list that’s not specific to Catholics or Christians, which means you’ll find people of every religion on its site. And while you can filter by religion, you may find your options to be much fewer if you search for Catholics only.
Our Verdict
If the age of your partner is one of the most important things to you, you’ll love the 50-and-over crowd at SilverSingles. To learn more about this site, read our SilverSingles review.
Pros
- Eight out of 10 members are age 50 or older
- Filter by religion
- Available in over 20 countries
- Compatibility quiz
Cons
- Not specific to Catholics or Christians
- Free version blurs photos and does not allow for messaging
2. CatholicMatch - Detailed Religion Filters
What We Like Most:
- Intended for Catholics only
- 1 million members
- Filter by diocese, political views, and church attendance
- New member offer for only $7.49 per month
Overview
If you’re serious about meeting another Catholic and want to make sure you’re aligned in terms of your beliefs and religious attendance, CatholicMatch is the dating site for you.
Standout Features
Because CatholicMatch is the only dating site on this list that’s specific to Catholics and not just Christians, when we filled out our profile, we were pleased to find so many questions about our religious beliefs and habits. We were asked about our:
- Diocese
- Frequency of mass attendance
- Level of religious observance
- Preferred liturgical style
- Acceptance of the church’s teaching of the Eucharist, conception, the sanctity of life, premarital sex, and other issues
When we were asked about our interests, choosing from a list, we loved the fact that prayer and praying with the Holy Rosary were included. This site makes it really easy to find not just another Catholic, but someone on the same page about their beliefs and involvement in the church.
Pricing
Another positive of CatholicMatch is its affordable prices, which start at just $7.49 per month for new members who sign up for six months. This happens to be the cheapest price on this list, even if you’re not a new member.
CatholicMatch Membership Pricing
Term length in months | Cost per month | Total amount billed |
---|---|---|
1 | $29.99 | $29.99 |
6 | $15 or $7.49 for new members | $84 or $44.94 for new members |
12 | $10 | $120 |
What Others Are Saying
While no one has reviewed CatholicMatch on Consumer Affairs, it has a 1.6-star rating (out of 5) on Trustpilot from 24 reviews. Some people complained about the lack of people, while others complained about the lack of responses. Additionally, people weren’t happy with the free version, as it requires an “unlocking period” before you can message with mutual likes, also known as matches. To message people immediately, invest in a premium subscription.
Drawbacks
While CatholicMatch doesn’t release detailed information about its members, the site is open to anyone age 18 and older, meaning it’s not specific to seniors. If you want a site with 80 percent of its members age 50 or older, check out SilverSingles below.
Our Verdict
CatholicMatch provides the most detailed information about other Catholic singles in your area so you don’t have to spend time matching and messaging people with whom you’re not religiously aligned.
Pros
- Designed for Catholics specifically
- Detailed questionnaire about religious beliefs and involvement
- Affordable prices
- Free version includes limited messaging and likes
Cons
- Not specific to seniors
- Free version doesn’t let you message people back immediately
3. Christian Cafe - Best Free Trial
What We Like Most:
- 10-day free trial with all of the premium features
- Christian-specific
- Questions about Christian faith, denomination, and church involvement
- Prices start at $9.99 per month
Overview
ChristianCafe let us try out all of its premium features for 10 days without having to pay a dime. For free, we got to see unblurred photos, like people, and message them, a super generous offer from this Christian-focused site.
Standout Features
Although ChristianCafe is not limited to Catholic singles, when we filled out our profile, the site asked about our Christian faith, denomination, and involvement in the church, allowing us to weed out many unsuitable matches. Of course, we also filled out the regular stuff, like our race, occupation, appearance, and marital status. Fun fact: The site does not allow any married people, even those who are legally separated, which could be important to many Catholics opposed to divorce.
Additionally, ChristianCafe is the only site on this list with a bona-fide free trial, not just a limited free membership. That means that there was no financial risk for us trying out the service for 10 days. That’s more than enough time to meet several people and plan several dates; even after the trial ends, prices are reasonable, as you’ll see below.
Pricing
ChristianCafe is similar to CatholicMatch when it comes to pricing, offering an annual subscription for $9.99 per month. We recommend signing up at this level to save the most money, as things get pretty pricey if you sign up for one month only.
ChristianCafe Membership Pricing
Term length in months | 1 | 3 | 6 | 12 |
---|---|---|---|---|
Price per month | $39.97 | $19.99 | $16.67 | $9.99 |
Total amount billed | $39.97 | $59.97 | $99.97 | $119.97 |
Note that once the 10-day free trial is over, there is no free membership option. It’s pay or hit the highway.
What Others Are Saying
Like CatholicMatch, ChristianCafe has no reviews on Consumer Affairs. On a brighter note, it has a 3.8-star rating on Trustpilot, which is the highest on this list by a wide margin. People praised the site for its many Christian members seeking long-term, faith-based relationships. However, a member in Washington state lamented the lack of users in her area, which will be true anywhere where Catholics are the religious minority.
Drawbacks
While every other dating site on this list has a membership tier that’s completely free, that’s not the case with Christian Cafe after the 10-day trial ends. Additionally, the site is not specific to Catholics or seniors, just Christians, so you’ll have to depend on the filters to find what you’re looking for.
Our Verdict
If you’re willing to cast a slightly wider net but don’t want to take any financial risk, take advantage of ChristinCafe’s free 10-day trial. There’s no harm in seeing what’s out there!
Pros
- 10-day free trial
- Highly rated on Trustpilot
- Christian-specific
- Filters for Christian faith, church involvement, and denomination
Cons
- Not specific to Catholics only
- No free membership after initial 10 days
4. Christian Mingle - Best for Marriage
What We Like Most:
- Accounts for 29 percent of Christian marriages that started online
- Recommended by 84 percent of its members
- 65 percent of all Catholic members attend church at least once per week
- In-person events across the country
Overview
If you’re looking for a spouse, Christian Mingle is your best chance at success. According to a 2016 survey from Survata, an independent research firm, Christian Mingle is responsible for more marriages among Christians than any of its competitors.
Standout Features
Like ChristianCafe, Christian Mingle is open to all Christians, not just Catholics. However, if you’d like Catholics only, you can specify your religion, church attendance, and the type of relationship you’re looking for.
When Survata surveyed 500 married Christians who had dated online before, they found that more couples had met on Christian Mingle than any other dating service, a total of 29 percent. Additionally, 84 percent of the couples said they would recommend Christian Mingle to friends, which speaks very highly of the site. While the survey didn’t list who the other competitors were, the results were clear: Christian Mingle had the highest marriage and recommendation rates.
Additionally, Survata asked the Catholic members of Christian Mingle if they went to church at least once per week, and 65 percent said yes. That’s higher than the rate for Catholics across the entire survey, which was 50 percent. In other words, the Catholics on Christian Mingle have higher levels of church attendance than those on other sites, if that’s something that’s important to you.
Pricing
But with these fantastic statistics comes pricing that’s by far the highest on this list. Prices start at $24.99 per month for a six-month package, nearly three times the price of CatholicMatch and ChristianCafe.
Christian Mingle Membership Pricing
Term length | Cost per month | Total amount billed |
---|---|---|
1 | $49.99 | $49.99 |
3 | $34.99 | $104.97 |
6 | $24.99 | $149.94 |
And while Christian Mingle’s free version lets us see unblurred pictures and like people, we couldn’t message them without a subscription, making it a total necessity.
What Others Are Saying
Much to our dismay, Christian Mingle has a 1.8 rating from 97 customer reviews on Consumer Affairs and a 1.4-star rating from 39 reviews on Trustpilot. People like the amount of people on the site and the people themselves, most of whom are seeking long-term relationships. But they aren’t as pleased with the expensive prices or the limitations of the free membership, understandably. Christian Mingle is certainly not the cheapest option around, but it does deliver in terms of its members.
Drawbacks
Although Christian Mingle claims it has the highest percentage of Christian members of any site around the world, with almost 60,000 new signups per month, it’s still not going to have as many members as a more general site like eHarmony or Match. For example, Statista data shows that only 55 percent of U.S. adults were aware of Christian Mingle, compared to 71 percent for eHarmony and 69 percent for Match. That being said, this drawback may be a plus for someone who’d prefer a smaller, more niche dating pool.
Our Verdict
If you’re serious about finding a partner and settling down, Christian Mingle is the avenue for long-term relationships. To learn more about Christian dating, read our guide to the best Christian dating sites.
Pros
- High customer satisfaction rates
- Responsible for the highest number of marriages among Christians who have dated online
- Highest percentage of Christians on any dating site around the world
- Filter by religion and church attendance
Cons
- Expensive
- Not specific to Catholics or seniors
- Free trial does not include messaging
5. Christian Dating for Free - Best Free Membership
What We Like Most:
- Free to search, like, and message people
- No nudity or inappropriate images
- Profiles include church name, attendance, denomination, and the church you were raised in
- Easy sign-in with Facebook or Apple
Overview
Forget a free trial; some people want a Christian dating site they can use for free indefinitely. Meet Christian Dating for Free, commonly abbreviated as CDFF. It’s a free site for Christians only, with some great filters you’ll appreciate as a Catholic.
Standout Features
Without entering our credit card information, we used CDFF to create profiles, search for people near us, like them, and message them. And this didn’t end after 10 days like with ChristianCafe; we could’ve kept doing this forever, as the site is supported by ads. Of course, there are premium memberships available with features like priority customer support, unlimited new messages per day, and the ability to upload more photos to your profile. However, none of these features was a necessity for using the site, so we passed and stuck to the free version.
Although CDFF is open to all Christians, we used its questionnaire to make our matches even more specific, filling out information such as:
- Church name
- Church attendance
- Church we were raised in
- Denomination
Of course, we also filled out the standard questions like our education levels, professions, and interests, but we appreciated the chance to be specific about our religious affiliation and involvement.
Pricing
It may seem ironic to have a pricing section while we’re extolling the virtues of the free membership, but the premium membership offers features some people may want, from being able to see when someone logged in last to keeping messages for more than 90 days. If these sound good to you, you can pay anywhere from $14.99 to $29.99 a month for CDFF. Not the cheapest price around, but again, this site is fully functional without a paid membership.
Christian Dating for Free Membership Pricing
Term length in months | Cost per month | Total amount billed |
---|---|---|
1 | $29.99 | $29.99 |
3 | $16.66 | $49.99 |
6 | $14.99 | $89.99 |
What Others Are Saying
Unfortunately, not everyone was pleased with their experience on CDFF. The website has no reviews on Consumer Affairs and only a two-star rating from 25 reviews on Trustpilot, 76 percent of which were one star, the lowest rating. What gives?
Many people complained about the lack of members in their area and, more specifically, active members. Others disliked the pop-up ads that, well, popped up on their screen when they were trying to date.
Drawbacks
CDFF’S site is pretty bare bones in terms of appearance and functionality, leading many users to better-designed sites like Christian Mingle. The ads were definitely annoying, but we guess that’s the price of a free site.
Like ChristianCafe and Christian Mingle, Christian Dating for Free is not specific to Catholics or seniors, just regular ole Christians.
Our Verdict
Despite its shortcomings, if you have absolutely no money to spend on online dating, you can meet other Christians, and even Catholics, on CDFF.
Pros
- Functional free membership
- Christian-specific
- Filter by denomination and church attendance
- Quick signup process
Cons
- Annoying pop-up ads
- Low membership in certain areas
- Not Catholic-specific
What to Look for in a Catholic Dating Site
When it comes to Catholic online dating, where do you start? We’ve done the research so you don’t have to.
First, decide if you want a site for everyone, like Match; a site for seniors, like SilverSingles; a site for Christians, like ChristianCafe or Christian Mingle; or a site for Catholics only, like CatholicMatch. But note that the more niche you go, the fewer options you’ll have. It really comes down to your personal preference: Do you want a small pool or a larger pool to jump into, metaphorically speaking?
Also, consider the filters available on each site. Although sites may not be designed for Catholics, many sites let you filter by denomination, so you match only with other Catholics. Other sites get even more specific about your religious involvement through questions about your church attendance, diocese, and even preferred liturgical style, in some cases. Again, it depends on how picky you are when it comes to religion.
Finally, consider pricing. Sites generally cost $10 to $50 per month, with lower prices if you sign up for longer periods of time, like six months or a year. Free versions exist but are usually pretty limited, not letting you see unblurred photos or message your matches.
You may also want to consider customer reviews from Consumer Affairs and Trustpilot, but take these with a grain of salt, as people love to complain online.
Challenges Faced by Catholics With Online Dating
If you’re online dating hoping to meet another Catholic, you’ll face unique challenges not faced by other religious groups. One, Catholics are a minority in the U.S., making up less than 1 in 5 adults across all states on average, according to 2014 data from the Pew Research Center. In some states, like Mississippi and Utah, Catholics make up only 4 or 5 percent of the total population, so you may have fewer people to choose from on dating websites in those states.
Additionally, even within the Catholic community, there is a ton of disagreement regarding issues like homosexuality, same-sex marriage, abortion, and government aid to the poor. So, even if you find another Catholic person, you may not be aligned politically, despite what your religious doctrine tells you.
In the same vein, Catholics have varying levels of church attendance. While nearly 40 percent attend services once per week, 40 percent go once or twice per month or a few times per year, and 20 percent go rarely or never. Finding a fellow Catholic is only the first step; you want to make sure that you’re compatible in terms of specific beliefs and church involvement as well.
Staying Safe With Online Dating
If you’re new to online dating, you may be worried about your safety. How can you match with potential partners while protecting yourself, your family, and your finances?
First, don’t share any personal information online, including:
- Bank account information
- Children’s names
- Credit card information
- Employer
- Full name
- Home address
- Social Security number
Never send money to anyone online, and meet people in public first. If someone refuses to speak on the phone, video chat, or meet in person, take it as a sign that they don’t have good intentions, and disconnect with them immediately. And finally, if someone is behaving inappropriately on a dating site, pay it forward by reporting it to the site’s support system; it’s what Jesus would have done!
Even though Catholics make up less than 20 percent of all U.S. adults, the good news is that nearly half of these Catholics are seniors. Twenty-nine percent of the Catholic adults in the U.S. are between the ages of 50 and 64, while an additional 20 percent are 60 or older. You can take advantage of this aging population when it comes to online dating.
