Background
Founded in 1999 by Peter Tourian, Synergy HomeCare now has over 270 locations in 29 states, as of February 2025. Private equity firm Levine Leichtman Capital Partners bought Synergy HomeCare in January 2025, although franchise owners still retain control over their franchises, according to McKnight’s Home Care Daily Pulse.
The company’s stated mission is to bring holistic, energizing care to people in their own homes. The company provides vetted and professional care not only to older adults, but also to people who need temporary care for injuries and surgical recovery.
Services
Synergy HomeCare offers a variety of personal care services, including companionship, specialized care, fall prevention, and general health and wellness care. This all-encompassing care can be around-the-clock live-in care, daily care, or even hourly care. Synergy prides itself on offering a customized care program to meet its clients’ needs, whether they have cancer, memory impairments, or disabilities.
Synergy caregivers can provide the following services:
- Activities of daily living: This basic level of care includes assistance with bathing, dressing, errands, housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, and transportation. It also provides individuals with companionship, assistance in planning social gatherings, and a compassionate ear when needed.
- Fall prevention: Caregivers help with mobility so people may safely move around their home. These services include helping individuals get in and out of bed, navigate stairs, bathe, and use the toilet. Caregivers also keep things organized to ensure the environment is safe by removing tripping hazards, ensuring floors are safe, and installing home accessibility equipment if it’s needed. Synergy also offers a free in-home safety assessment to help evaluate your home.

Each Synergy HomeCare franchise is independently owned and operated, so your experience may differ from ours. Here’s what we found in our experience with locations in Florida, Arizona, and Pennsylvania:
- Some locations have per-shift minimums of two or four hours.
- While some locations charge based on the level of care needed, others charge by the length of a shift.
- Altogether, clients paid $28 to $50 an hour, with lower-than-average pricing in each state.
- For clients paying through long-term care insurance, minimums did not apply.

That being said, we looked at reviews for the entire company on Trustpilot and Consumer Affairs, which had overall ratings of three and 1.4 out of five stars, respectively. Cost and Pricing
As Synergy HomeCare is a franchise, pricing and minimums differ from location to location. That being said, our clients in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philly, paid the following hourly amounts based on the length of shifts:
- Eight hours or more: $29 to $34
- Four to eight hours: $32 to $36
- Three hours: $38 to $43
- Two hours: $44 to $50
There is no weekly minimum, but shifts must be two hours or more. Given that the median cost of home care in Pennsylvania is $31 an hour, according to Genworth, this location is cheaper than average with longer shifts.
Clients in Delray Beach, Florida, paid from $28 to $32 an hour, depending on the level of care needed. This location has a per-shift minimum of four hours and prefers clients who need care at least three days a week. The median cost of home care in Florida is $30 an hour, so this location charges below-average fees for lower levels of care, such as light housekeeping, companionship, and help with activities of daily living.
Finally, clients in Mesa, Arizona, paid $33 an hour, with a two-hour per-shift minimum. That’s lower than the state’s median of $36 an hour, making all locations we’re aware of more affordable than average.
