Homewatch CareGivers Pros and Cons
Pros
- Quality assurance: Every 90 days, Homewatch sends a representative to perform an in-home visit so they can assess whether you’re satisfied with their caregivers and address any issues.
- Cost guidance: Homewatch provides guidance and resources for receiving Veterans Affairs aid, and connects you with local grant and funding options to help fill in gaps if you need assistance with the cost of your care.
- Transitional care at home: For people recently discharged from the hospital or recovering from surgery, Homewatch offers specialized care that eases the transition from an inpatient facility to home.
- Both medical and nonmedical care: Homewatch offers a range of services, from light duties such as housekeeping to medical caregiving for people with chronic diseases, in hospice, or who are recovering from a stroke or heart attack. That’s why the company offers both home health aides as well as private duty nurses.
Cons
- Affordability: In some locations, Homewatch is a little pricier than the average home care service provider. Although the services are of good value, Homewatch might not be for you if you’re on a strict budget.
- Not all services: Not every location offers every service. For example, the location in Boca Raton, Florida, provides nonmedical care only.

Background
Founded in 1980 by Paul Sauer, Homewatch CareGivers is now a property of Authority Brands, LLC, a parent company of many franchised home service brands. Customer Experience
Each Homewatch CareGivers franchise will vary slightly in terms of services, but here’s what we found in our experiences with locations in Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Florida:
- Prices range from $29 to $50 an hour. Prices in Pennsylvania and Arizona were on the expensive side, while prices in Florida were lower than average.
- Some locations have minimum shift lengths of four hours. Others simply charge higher hourly rates for shifts under four hours.
- Live-in rates are available for a flat daily fee that covers 16 hours of care. Rates range from $350 to $700 per day, or $15 to $44 per hour.
What stood out most was how quickly Homewatch was able to dispatch a caregiver. With ongoing shortages of caregivers, few agencies are able to provide such prompt service. If you’re looking for home care quickly, then Homewatch CareGivers is a good option.
Third-Party Reviews
Because Homewatch CareGivers is a franchise, each location has their own pages on customer review sites such as Yelp, Google, and the Better Business Bureau. Unfortunately, more general sites like Trustpilot and Consumer Affairs do not have pages for the business as a whole. Looking at the location where the company is headquartered – Greenwood Village, Colorado – we found the following reviews on Google and Yelp, where Homewatch has five-star ratings overall:
“We could not have imagined getting a better aid to help my father recover. She quickly became more of a friend than our aid. He was able to get better within weeks as she also did physical therapy exercises with him as well as help him get out of bed, shower, wash and eat. You will be doing your loved one a HUGE favor working with this company!!!”- Greenwood Village, Colorado
“We have been working with Homewatch CareGivers, LLC for over 6 months. I am consistently impressed with their integrity, dedication to quality and follow through. I highly recommend them for your home health care needs!”- Greenwood Village, Colorado

I don't know what I would have done without you……
Thank you to the staff and caregivers!!!!”- Denver, Colorado

Cost and Pricing
Given that each Homewatch CareGivers is an independent franchise, pricing will vary based on location, but here’s what our clients have paid in a few areas across the U.S.
In the greater Philadelphia area, our clients have paid:
- Two-hour shifts: $90, or $45 an hour
- Three-hour or longer shifts: $34 per hour

Genworth’s reported median rate for home health care is $31 in Pennsylvania, making Homewatch CareGivers slightly more expensive than average, with the exception of live-in care.
Clients in Scottsdale, Arizona, were charged about $39 an hour if they booked 40 hours or more per week, or about $41 an hour if they booked fewer hours or required more complex care. Shifts between two and three hours were a flat rate of $135 (about $45 an hour), while shifts of two hours or fewer were $100, or about $50 per hour. Finally, live-in care costs $700 a day. Not counting the eight hours of rest the caregiver gets per day, that comes out to about $44 an hour. Altogether, this location’s hourly rates are high, as the state’s median is only $36 an hour.
Finally, for a client in Boca Raton, Florida, who needed help with activities of daily living, including cooking, light housekeeping, and transportation in a car, Homewatch Caregivers charged only $29 an hour with four-hour minimum shifts. That’s just under the state’s median of $30 per hour.
