Griswold Home Care services include companion care, personal care, respite care, live-in care, and specialized support for individuals with dementia.

• Companionship: Griswold’s caretakers can accompany seniors who live alone while they shop or do errands, help them with hobbies, or attend social events with them.
• Dementia care support: Aides can help seniors with dementia by guiding them through cognitive activities, staying within their version of reality, and preparing meals for people that may have trouble using utensils.
• Fall prevention and recovery support: If you’re worried about someone falling, Griswold caretakers can install night-lights and nonslip mats. They also can help seniors increase their range of motion through exercises, and provide personal care, homemaking, and companionship.
• Homemaking: Homemaking includes errands, grocery shopping, meal planning and prep, light housekeeping, and laundry.
• Hospice and palliative care support: While Griswold does not offer medical care, caregivers can provide patients with emotional support, personal care help, homemaking, and companionship, as well as medication reminders.
• Live-in or overnight care: Griswold offers 24/7 home care for people who need constant care and supervision, consisting of several caregivers spread out over three daily shifts. It also provides live-in caregiver services, in which one caregiver provides assistance during the waking hours.
• Neuromuscular care support: If your loved one has a neuromuscular condition such as Parkinson’s, one of Griswold’s caretakers can help care for their bodies and homes, offering both respite and 24/7 care.
• Personal care: Caregivers can assist with everyday tasks such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, and transfer.
• Postsurgery and rehab care support: Griswold Home Care offers postsurgery and rehab care for individuals who need assistance during their transition back into the home. Caregivers can assist with transportation, light housekeeping, personal care, and transfers.
• Respite care: For many family caregivers, daily care tasks result in caregiver burnout. To avoid this stressful condition, Griswold offers respite care services, which help supplement the work of family caregivers and provide much-needed breaks.

Customer Experience

Each Griswold Home Care franchise is independently owned and operated, so your experience with the company will likely vary from ours. Here’s what we found in Florida:

• Griswold Home Care services cost between $28 and $50 an hour.
• Most locations require shifts of at least four hours.
• Griswold aims to keep clients with the same caregiver, but it often has to schedule different caregivers.
• Griswold caregivers go through extensive training, including learning how to work with dementia patients and use gait belts for transfer.

Third-Party Reviews

Griswold is a franchise, so the third-party reviews differ for each location. For example, the company’s Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, location, which is also the company’s headquarters, has 4.7 out of five stars on Google:

“Griswold Home Care has provided care for my husband for several months.  The caregivers sent to us have consistently been friendly, caring and competent.  My husband feels comfortable with all of them.  The office staff have been accommodating and helpful also.  On the one occasion when a caregiver they sent didn’t seem to be the right fit, the Griswold staff understood my concern and immediately began looking for someone else.  Our caregivers have been a huge help to me and our family and we are very grateful!”

“The care my mother receives is outstanding. Alice is caring, hard working and my mother is more engaged and animated than she was before Alice came. She is a good match and I can't thank Griswold enough. I would highly recommend this company.”

But on Yelp, the same location only has one star from a single review:

“While the home care personnel were generally appropriate, one of them stole a $250 piece of electronics from a drawer, leaving behind the empty box.

Some were noisy, talked to themselves or prayed out loud during the middle of night (waking the cared for senior) or even carried on loud phone conversations while the senior was sleeping.

They do not vet their employees well.”

Cost and Pricing

Griswold locations are owned and operated independently, so the cost will vary, along with per-shift and per-week minimums. However, we’ve had clients across the country who have used Griswold Home Care, so here’s an idea of a typical range.

• Pennsylvania: Clients in Philadelphia have paid $34 an hour for weekday shifts of six hours or more, or $44 an hour for shifts under six hours. Costs are $2 per hour more on the weekends, with no per-shift or per-week minimums. Live-in care 24/7 costs $475 per day. Given that the average cost of a home health aide is $31 per hour in Pennsylvania, according to Genworth, Griswold is slightly more expensive than average.
• Florida: Clients in Boca Raton paid anywhere from $28 to $50 an hour, depending on the level of care they needed. There was a four-hour minimum in this South Palm Beach location. Care could be below average in terms of cost, which in Florida is $30 an hour, but only if a lower level of care is needed.
• Arizona: Finally, in Phoenix, our clients paid $39 for visits of four-to-six hours, or around $35 an hour for visits or seven hours or more, with no weekly minimum. The state’s average is $36, so you’ll pay below-average rates for longer visits.
