- In-home care: In-home care with Always Best Care is divided into three categories: personal care services, specialized services, and skilled home health. Personal care services including daily activities like meal prep and laundry as well as end-of-life support. Specialized services are less general, supporting people recovering from surgery or a hospital visit, for example. “Terrible, unreliable, lazy caregivers. We used this service for 4 days – a complete waste of money. A in-home visit was never conducted, caregivers (and I use that term loosely) never asked “how can we help”, caregivers did absolutely nothing while they were in my father's home. We were told the caregivers would make meals, give medications, do dishes, fold laundry, take dad a bath. Not one of these things were done the entire 4 days of service, and this is not an exaggeration. My call with the owner, Dan went horribly. He was unapologetic, rude, condescending, non-caring, defensive, and denied all responsibility for the utter lack of care my dad experienced.”

In Pennsylvania, where the median cost of home health aides is $31, Always Best Care’s costs range from $25 to $29 an hour. In Chandler, Arizona, a suburb of Phoenix, hourly prices are high at $35 to $40 an hour, while the state’s median cost is $36. Finally, in Florida, which has a median cost of $30 an hour, home health aides cost $28 to $40 an hour.
Whichever state you’re in, you’ll choose from one of three tiers, each with its own cost:
- Tier one: The lowest-tier of service includes meal prep, medical reminders, companionship, shopping, errands, light housekeeping, laundry, and escorts to doctors, although the home health aide will not be doing the driving.
- Tier two: Tier two includes all tier-one tasks plus helping out the older adult with a special diet, dressing, ambulating, oxygen use, bathing, and grooming. The caregiver will also provide assistance with exercises that have already been mapped out by, say, a physical therapist.
