MDHearingAid: Hearing Aid Reviews
While hearing aids can easily cost over $4,000, MDHearing offers hearing aids that start at $299.98 for a pair.
While this price point causes MDHearing devices to lack some high-tech features, the company still offers reliable hearing aids that can affordably address mild to moderate hearing loss.
Let’s take a closer look at MDHearing models, their warranties, and other features that make them stand out among hearing aid competitors.
MDHearing Pros
- Affordable medical-grade devices: We can’t overstate the affordability of MDHearing. Plus, their hearing aids are FDA-registered, which means they work with a higher degree of sophistication than the simple amplifiers you can find online and at drug stores.
- Fully online: From their free hearing test to the actual purchasing process, MDHearing devices are available online, which means that you don’t have to visit an audiology clinic to obtain them.
- 24/7 customer support: With hearing aids often having a steep learning curve, we appreciate that MDHearing professionals are available at all times for troubleshooting support.
- 45-day trials: Every MDHearing device comes with a 45-day trial period, during which time you can return your hearing aids and receive a full refund.
- Free hearing test: MDHearing offers a free online hearing test that can be completed in eight minutes. They partnered with professional audio engineers to create one of the most accurate online hearing tests out there.
MDHearing Cons
- No custom fits: While online purchases allow you to quickly and easily obtain hearing aids, they don’t give you the precise fit and customization that you’d have when purchasing Phonak hearing aids or Oticon hearing aids from a hearing health provider.
- Few high-tech features: While MDHearing offers rechargeable hearing aids and Bluetooth hearing aids, they don’t have advanced features such as artificial intelligence, automatic adjustments, and binaural processing.

Purchasing MDHearing Devices
MDHearing products are not currently sold in stores. To purchase them, you can start by visiting their website. There, you’ll be able to view all their current models and check out their individual features. While FDA-registered, MDHearing hearing aids do not require a prescription. The upside of this is that you know you’re getting a medical-grade product; however, for those with severe hearing loss, we’d recommend visiting a professional who can finely fit hearing aids to your particular type of hearing loss. If you prefer to pay in monthly installments, MDHearing has partnered with Affirm to offer 12-month financing options starting at $50 per month and 0% APR.
Did You Know:Does insurance cover hearing aids? In some cases, the answer is yes. Luckily, MDHearing now has an in-house insurance team that will help you navigate your coverage and even file a claim for you.
MDHearing Online Hearing Test
On MDHearing’s website, you’ll also be able to take their free hearing test. This process, which takes a matter of minutes, consists of some questions and sound recognition exercises. If you’ve ever visited a hearing health provider, this test will feel familiar. After you complete the test, the website will suggest which MDHearing model will be right for you.
MD Hearing Aid Models
Currently, MDHearingAid offers four models: the AIR, NEO, VOLT, and VOLT MAX VIP. All of these models come with a 45-day trial period and a minimum one-year warranty.

MDHearing Air
At $299.98 a pair, Air is MDHearing’s most affordable model. These hearing aids offer feedback cancellation, background noise reduction, and four different settings that can be adjusted to suit different environments. In our tests, the quiet setting worked well while listening to music at home, while the noisy setting helped drown out background noise in a crowded restaurant. Previously, this model used to use disposable batteries, but MDHearing now makes it with rechargeable ones instead.
MDHearing Neo
If you're looking for a more discreet pair of hearing aids, then the MDHearing Neo is an ideal option. Smaller than a pair of Airpods, these hearing aids fit completely in the user's ear. They also have a rechargeable battery that lasts up to 17 hours.
MDHearing Volt
MDHearingAid’s next model, VOLT, costs $299.98 for a pair. In terms of sound features, it functions identically to the Air. However, MDHearingAid VOLT also has new and improved features such as water-resistant capabilities and longer battery life. While we wouldn’t recommend swimming with these hearing aids, they were certainly able to withstand baths and showers in our experience.
The other unique feature of the VOLT is its rechargeable batteries. Much like Apple’s AirPods, these hearing aids feature a charging case that can store up to three full charges, making these hearing aids highly portable. In our tests, these hearing aids lasted between one and two days before needing a recharge.
Often, it’s difficult to measure sound quality of hearing aids in an objective way; however, we can say that in our experience, the VOLT hearing aids had the clearest sound of any MDHearing model.

MDHearing VOLT MAX VIP
At $699.98 per pair, VOLT MAX VIP is MDHearing’s priciest model; however, the cost is justified because of its smart features. This Bluetooth-enabled model can pair with your smartphone or tablet, allowing you to instantly adjust your device’s sound settings. Over time, hearing loss worsens, which is why VOLT MAX is worth the price tag.
Rather than purchasing new hearing aids, which could become useless after a few years, VOLT MAX can be continually adjusted to suit progressive hearing loss. Unlike MDHearing's other products, the VOLT MAX comes with a two-year warranty and unlimited support from their team of hearing specialists.

MDHearing Accessories
Currently, MDHearing offers accessories for a wide range of hearing devices ranging from MDHearing AIR to VOLT MAX. You can view the accompanying accessories needed by checking the entire accessory catalog. For example, if you shop for the VOLT MAX (Series L) hearing aid by MDHearing, you can purchase additional accessories such as size 312 batteries, an MDShield Protection Plan, or a cleaning tool set priced at $7.50.
Pro Tip: Test your hearing and take a free online hearing test from MDHearing in less than eight minutes.
MDHearing Warranty and Return Policy
For returns, MDHearing allows you to return your hearing aids within 45 days for a full refund, provided the devices are in their original condition. Beyond this period, however, you won’t be able to return them.
In terms of a warranty, the MDHearing AIR, NEO, and VOLT come with a one-year manufacturer’s warranty that covers defects and workmanship. The VOLT MAX VIP comes with a two-year warranty. If any issues arise, MDHearingAid will either repair or replace your hearing aids at no extra cost.
MDHearing Protection Plan
During the checkout process, you’ll also have the option to purchase a protection plan from MDHearing. This plan cost us $9.99 per month for the Air and $14.99 per month for the Core; however, we think it’s well worth it.
With an MDHearing protection plan, your hearing aids will be protected against accidental damage, defects, and malfunctions. The only thing not covered is the loss of your products. There are also no deductibles. If any of these issues arise, MDHearing will either fix or replace your hearing aids.
Bottom Line
Between their interest-free financing and already competitive prices, it’s hard to think of a better affordable hearing aid than one from MDHearingAid. While their devices lack some of the fine-tuning available on traditional hearing aids, MDHearing Aid products may offer an ideal budget-friendly solution for those with mild to moderate hearing loss.
