Walmart Senior Discounts: What You Can Expect
- As of 2024, Walmart doesn’t offer a discount for seniors.
- However, the company offers Walmart+ Assist for recipients of qualifying government programs like Medicaid and SNAP.

For everyday low prices that can’t be beaten, Walmart is a step ahead of the game. As of June of 2024, the company operates 10,500 stores and clubs in 19 countries, with 4,609 Walmart stores in the U.S. With Walmart+, the company’s subscription program, customers can get free grocery delivery and other exclusive membership benefits that can save them money.
Although the company doesn’t offer any senior-specific or military discounts, we highly recommend joining Walmart+, which can be 50 percent off for people on qualifying government programs like food stamps or Medicaid.
Walmart Senior Discount
Walmart doesn’t offer any type of senior discount. However, it does offer Walmart+ Assist, a special program for recipients of the following government programs:
- SNAP (food stamps)
- Medicaid
- WIC
To join Walmart+ Assist, verify your eligibility on Walmart’s website and then select a plan that’s billed monthly or annually. After your first 30 days (which are free), you’ll pay either $49 a year or $6.47 a month — half the cost of a regular membership. The membership includes:
- 10 cents off per gallon at more than 13,000 gas stations across the U.S. (only 5 cents savings in Alabama and Oklahoma)
- In-store checkout on your phone
- Early access to discounts, Black Friday deals, etc.
- Free delivery from stores with a $35 minimum purchase
- Free shipping on small orders with no order minimum
- Free tire repair and road hazard warranty at Walmart Auto Care Centers
- Paramount Plus Essential plan
- Returns from home
- Up to 5 percent in Walmart Cash with trips booked via Expedia
