Description

The WEISSLER LAW GROUP works with Seniors and their families to help prepare for and deal with life cycle events. Each of us works a lifetime to provide for our families. We work to create a measure of safety, security and dignity. Our Attorneys are experienced in helping create structures and circumstances to preserve individual dignity, family harmony and financial security. To accomplish these objectives we primarily work in three areas:

Estate Planning: Unlike many law firms, we are sensitive to the fact that estate planning documents for Seniors need to be different from those created for their children or for young families. Our approach to estate planning for Seniors takes into account the range of challenges which may be presented by aging. Our Attorneys and Professional Staff are prepared to customize, draft and help implement structures designed to fit your individual family and financial circumstances. Prior planning can avoid probate, lower costs, and minimize taxes. These structures often includes powers of attorney, specialized trusts, Wills, Intra-family Contracts, Intarfamily Annuities, and many other possible structures. These tools can also protect a Senior’s legacy from predators, catastrophes and the possibility that a Senior’s children or grandchildren could lose their inheritance in a divorce.

Nursing Home & Home Care: At Weissler Law Group, our focus is on preserving the hard earned assets of our clients. We feel that no one should be required to sacrifice a lifetime of work in order to receive care in their old age. New rules, which go into effect soon, make it critical that planning begin as soon as possible. Although emergency planning remains possible, the earlier planning begins, the more assets can be preserved. We have in our arsenal a number of techniques and approaches which can make a huge difference in preserving assets to take care of a Senior and their family. Care planning by a qualified attorney can allow for assets to be preserved which would otherwise need to be used to pay nursing home costs. Attorney Weissler is Veteran's Administration Accredited.

Probate and Estate Administration: The transfer of assets after the death of a family member can be as stressful and divisive as a divorce. Too often adding to those stresses, the Probate process is a litigation oriented process which, in our opinion, encourages conflicts and confrontations. Choosing the right law firm can reduce the amount of pain and family dividing conflict connected with dividing a deceased family member’s assets.

In helping our clients through either probate proceedings or non-probate estate administration we have three goals: First, is to move the probate or estate administration along and conclude the process as quickly as is prudent; Second is to help minimize the natural family conflicts which are fanned and inflamed by California's probate and estate administration systems; Third, to minimize current and future taxes so that our client’s family gets to keep more of their inheritances.

Our focus when helping families transfer assets is to minimize the impact that estate administration and the tax system have on those things our Clients and their families value.
